M Commerce and M Professional Accounting programs
Unconditional Offers to commence in 2020 must be accepted within 30 days of offer date

Dear valued recruitment partner,

With your help and support, we have had strong demand for places to postgraduate courses at the University of Sydney Business School. As you will remember, for Semester 2 this year we paused making offers for the commerce and professional accounting programs due to high demand. We understand that a number of your bright students may have missed the opportunity to commence study with us, so we are making changes to the way we manage some applications for Semester 1, 2020 for Master of Commerce and Master of Professional Accounting – we trust our transparency with these changes will assist you with helping your students be successful with their admission to the University of Sydney.

On Monday, September 16, we will reissue all unconditional offers to the Master of Commerce and to the Master of Professional Accounting for Semester 1, 2020, noting that offers will be valid only for 30 days. From that date onwards, any unconditional offer that we issue for these two courses will lapse after 30 days. It is important for your students to be aware about the limited time in which these offers must be accepted. Acceptance of offer – including making the necessary initial payment – must be completed before the lapse date indicated on the offer. Please note that an offer will not be reissued after it has lapsed, and a student may not apply for admission to a course and intake for which an offer has already lapsed.

The entry requirements for these two courses remain unchanged, but our Admissions team will prioritise making offers to high achieving students. As a result, there may be slight delays to some applicants receiving their offers to these 2 courses. We ask you manage your students’ expectation for these programs.

Kindly be reminded that we will no longer be making new offers nor taking new applications to the Graduate Diploma in Commerce and Professional Accounting. Unconditional or packaged offers to the GradDip will be honoured for Semester 1 2020. Outstanding unconditional offers to the GradDip will be reissued on September 16 with a lapse date of 30 days. No other new offers to the GradDip programs will be made.

As part of revitalising the Master of Commerce, we will offer 8 refocused areas of specialisation about which I wrote to you previously. Many of you have recently joined our webinar on the refreshed Master of Commerce and you will be receiving relevant materials and updates to support your continuing ability to provide our mutual students with the most appropriate advice. Meanwhile, should you have any questions about these changes, please contact your relevant Regional Manager. If the question is specifically admission related feel free to also contact our Admissions team on international.admissions@sydney.edu.au. My teams and I thank you for your ongoing support as we continue to work together to attract the best and the brightest.

Your sincerely,

Shane Griffin
